[Geoserver-devel] Valid characters for username and password

Hi. What are the valid characters for a username and password in GeoServer? I'm writing a script that asks for a username and password and then writes the users.properties file. Obviously, the "=" is right out, since that's what separates the username from the password. Any other bogus characters? What about spaces?

The comma is out of the question as well, I think anything else is
good to go
