Andrea and I just finished chatting and have come up with a small strategy to improve the documentation for WCS.
Currently there is just Alex's tutorial on the Image Mosaic Plugin (http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDEV/Using+the+ImageMosaic+plugin)
We will be going ahead and adding in pages for:
- Data Configuration for loading a simple TIFF (http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Data+Configuration)
- Service Configuration for WCS (http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Service+Configuration)
- Update WMS Configuration page
- Expand and finish up a tutorial on loading a large BlueMarble TIFF (http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Load+NASA+Blue+Marble+Data)
- Document using the GeoTools Image Mosaic and Pyramid Builder tools
We are also going to take some time to improve the pyramid builder so it will generate all of the layers of the pyramid at once, instead of one at a time. And document how to use it.
We have also proposed renaming some of the configuration names in the UI. For instance:
'FeatureDataSet' will be renamed back to 'DataStore'
'CoverageDataSet' will be renamed to 'CoverageStore'
'FeatureType' will remain
'Coverage' will remain
This changes will help people move from 1.4 to 1.5 without getting lost in new terminology. Then in the future when we get our new UI we can re-think how they will be named or organized.
