[Geoserver-devel] Weblate merge style configuration

Hello,

I am trying to make progress on moving translation management for non dev people from transifex to osgeo weblate.

I would like to know which merge style you prefer to have between the options listed here: https://docs.weblate.org/en/weblate-5.0/admin/projects.html#merge-style.

Thank you for your inputs!

I prefer “rebase” style for a clean commit history.

Thanks for the feedback, Jody. I will start to setup a configuration like that on a fork of mine and let see how it works for few week.

Good luck Alex,

Thanks for continuing to look at this.

I am also interested in your perspective on user-guide translation(s).

There seems to be two fundamentally different approaches:

  • Documentation snippets being included as part of the POT translation
  • Translated documentation pages alongside the English documentation

Translation of documentation is always a nightmare, because of the screenshots when you have a UI like the GeoServer administration.

Understood, at least with “whole document” translation there is the option of leaving the screenshots out :slightly_smiling_face:

When I have something more to share of mkdocs I would appreciate a discussion with you and any other interested parties. I think it would be kind to translate some of the installation and getting started instructions.
