[Geoserver-devel] WFS 1.1 exception content type: application/xml (should it be text/xml?)

Hi,
I’ve noticed that GeoServer now returns a content type of “application/xml”
in OWS10ServiceExceptionHandler

https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/blob/master/src/ows/src/main/java/org/geoserver/ows/OWS10ServiceExceptionHandler.java#L95

However, looking at the OWS 1.0 specification I see no mention of the application/xml format, and while I haven’t seen any specific requirement one way or the other, there is an example caps document citing:

text/xml text/plain text/html

Do you know where the current mime type choice is coming from?

Cheers
Andrea

Hmmm… not really that I can recall. If anything it would probably be something to ensure cite tests pass. But it also may just be a default that was chosen and the cite tests don’t exercise it.

I guess i would go ahead and change it and run the cite tests to verify nothing breaks. And if so then go ahead with the change.
