Hi,
I wonder what is the actual status of implementation/support for WFS "geo-datasources", related to
insert / update / delete "geo-instances". I mean, the geoserver project provides support for some datasources, and I would like to know if they are available only for read-access or also for read/write access.
More specific, is it possible to do insert / update / delete objects on Shape Files data sources using WFS operations/operators ?
10x in advance for any help.

Yes it is. We don't _really_ recommend it, as shapefiles aren't built
for transactions - and if you hit it heavily I've heard there's some
performance hits, which makes sense as I think we end up writing out
the whole file each time. But it will work. GeoServer is all about
doing everything by default, and optimizing where possible. So PostGIS
works much better, as it was built for it, but all datastores do
read/write.
best regards,
Chris
