[Geoserver-devel] WSDL for WFS/WMS ?

Hello,

I've a question about java development. I'm using Geoserver and its WFS/WMS webservices, and I'd like to know if there is a WSDL file for each of these services. This could allow me to use apache Axis to generate client java classes, that could deal with a WFS or WMS service. I didn't find a generic WSDL file for WFS/WMS. Maybe I should have another look to the OGC specs... or should I make calls to WFS only with HTTP queries?
Thanks

Hello Nicolas,

No there are not any WSDL files included. Although the connectors
required for a WSDL interface could be added relatively easily, it has
not yet been completed as it is not part of the OGC specification. Feel
free to add this if you need it, I'm sure others would find it useful
too. I you want a couple pointers wrt the geoserver code, just gimme a
shout.

I actually did a bit of preliminary work for wsdl with geoserver, back
before the 1.0 spec the wfs 0.15 spec was actually using WSDL
definitions, I think for the Capabilities document, and it looked like
the spec was going down that path, but then 1.0.0 came out, looking a
lot more like 0.14. Don't think I came up with much worth using, but
if you can find a 0.15 spec that might provide you a bit of direction.

You could also email the wfs-dev list, and get their thoughts on wsdl
definitions, if they are thinking of making it a part of the spec in
the future. http://mail.opengis.org/mailman/listinfo/wfs-dev

And yes, as David said, we would definitely consider rolling WSDL
defintions into geoserver if you figure some good stuff out.

good luck,

Chris
