Release Archive update to download.osgeo.org
Torben: Archive releases now available for download:
- https://download.osgeo.org/geoserver/
Pending items:
- Anyone know anything about the “OldReleases” folders?
- Going to move this one to email for feedback
- This is really old releases from Chris Holmes hardrive
(STRUTS ui and everything)
- Update release links / blog posts (?)
- Can we also use this for current releases -> Haven’t gotten an answer from OSGeo SAC on that one, would like more info before opening GS Proposal.
Questions and feedback:
- Do we need to fix this ahead of the release cycle on October 19th?
- This is missing some recent releases, like GeoTools 35 …
Jira is back… short live Jira?
Jira is back, took some phone calls:
- It should not go away again
- We can deactivate users to reduce our 2000 user count
Andrea has his deskside project to convert to github?
- however the release procedure would need to be modified again
- also the automatic blog post writer
- So good idea for 3.1.x…
Atlassian says renewal process is “automated” so it should not get stuck again in 6 months.
Community module cleanup
See discourse discussion:
- sqlite - removed
- ogcapi-tiled-features
- ogcapi-images
Check for update community module proposal
- Great idea: Use github tags to check if a new version is released
- Admin warning on screen
- Startup log message
- Check once per login of user?
- Or check for updates (perhaps on the about geoserver page)
Release planning
Simultaneous release every two months during transition to GeoServer 3:
- Monday October 19: GeoServer 3.0.2 / 2.28.6
- Jody and Peter to release
GeoServer Cloud release planning:
- Gabe and Alessio to release geoserver-cloud alongside 3.0.2 above
Nice discourse comment on update:
“I want to say thank you to all the geoserver/geotools people. We’ve done the upgrade to the 3.x series this month, and it was probably the most boring major upgrade I’ve done in a long time. It’s just chugging along.”
PR round up!
Andrea has some good GeoSever 3.1.x only changes coming ahead of foss4gna talk.
A lot of individual ImageN 0.9.3 changes to backport as a single PR:
- [GEOS-12171] Update to ImageN 0.9.3 (with imagen prefix dependencies)
- [GEOT-7951] ImageN 0.9.3: scale2 moved to distinct package
- [GEOT-7951] ImageN 0.9.3: Change to imagen-bom import for dependencies
- And the good news is ImageN publishing to maven central.
