Hi,
I am trying to deploy Geoserver 1.4.0 war on Red Hat Linux/Tomcat 5. There does not seem to be any error messages in the Tomcat log files except one about ArcSDE. However, when I go to the geoserver url, I receive a 404 error - requested resource not available /geoserver/JSPCompiler.
Has anyone else come across this? Any help would be appreciated.

Can you try entering the following url into your browser and see if it returns an xml response?
http://sigma.openplans.org:8080/geoserver/wms?service=WMS&request=GetCapabilities
Also can you supply us with the full logs so we can take a look? There might be a small error hidden in it.
