[Geoserver-users] 503 error

Hello all,

This is the second time i come looking for help regarding this problem.

I have a Geoserver instance running on winxp, sp2, version 1.7.3.

Suddenly, Geoserver stopped working. It started giving me this 503 error when trying to get tiles or acessing the admin page. So nothing works.

Looking to the DOS “start geoserver” window, that window reports some errors with wmsconfig.jar and other files (which i cant remember all), saying that there is a nullpointer exception.

I don´t know how to generate a full stack trace, if someone is kind to teach me or help me doing so, i can post the full logs here.

Thanks for the help.

I am facing the same problem… with 1.7.4…
the funny thing is that if I install 2.0 alpha2 everything works fine…
but I need 1.7.4 because I need to use REST… unless there’s REST for 2.0 alpha2… is there?

“Saber o que é certo e não fazê-lo é a pior covardia.”

There should be a log file inside the geoserver data directory. If you have not changed any settings this should be under:

C:\Program Files\GeoServer 1.7.3\data_dir\logs\geoserver.log

If you could include the relevant stack trace from there that would be helpful.

Hello everyone,

I installed Geoserver 2.0-a and the admin page works but with restrictions.

First of all, my availuable services are only WFS and WCS, WMS not appearing on the list on the right.

When i try to access the pages: Layer Preview and WMS configuration it gives me a internal error. Not much.

I sucessflly configured some datasets on GeoServer and tried to make a simples map on O.L. The map and all OL layers features execute, but Geoserver prints a error tile instead on the actual map. In attachment there is a .rar file with the log of 1.7.3 geoserver.

Thank you for your attention.

You'll find the full logs into the GeoServer data directory, logs
subfolder, geoserver.log file.
If you have installed with the windows installer look into
geoserver/data_dir/logs/geoserver.log

The file may be big, please compress is, and if it's still more
than 50-100kb, send it to me by private mail instead of posting
it to the mailing list.

Cheers
Andrea
