[Geoserver-users] Abstract Feature Type problem

Hi All

I have a custom data store that returns in the schema definition for the
feature type an abstract geometry.

describe feature gives:
<xs:element name="geom" minOccurs="1" nillable="false"
type="gml:GeometryAssociationType"/>

I do this because at global levels the feature is a collection of
Polygons, and then it turns to a collection of point data. Geoserver is
happy to render this in the map but I see that tools like uDig do not
render and blow up. Given this list is very active I wondered if anyone
knew if I was breaking a spec by defining an abstract type?

Thanks

Tim

Hi Tim,

You will probably get a more definitive answer on the wfs-devel list but
from my knowledge of the spec this is perfectly legal.

Where does udig choke? Is it accessing the datastore directly? Or via
GeoServer WFS?
