Hi list,
we've been trying to access a non-spatial table (ArcCatalog calls this a SDE
Table) through Geoserver-ArcSDE, but when choosing New FeatureType it does
not show up in the list. Is there some kind of check in the ArcSDE driver
that filters for this?
When using the "raw" OCI connection, we do get the table, but ofcourse it
would be best to reference everything through ArcSDE.
Is this a known caveat? TIA.
Best regards,
Bart

Generally speaking non geographic data serving in GeoTools data store came as an afterthought, and fixing a datastore so that it can deal
with data without geometries is not always easy. Many datastores
were in fact coded so that non geometric tables weren't available
because they did not make sense in a GIS setting.
Afterwards some datastores were fixed to work with geometryless
data as well, I guess ArcSDE is not among the lot.
Probably Gabriel can provide more information about this.
Gabriel?

catching up on email.
Right, non spatial tables are not supported by the ArcSDE geotools plugin, but
supporting at least the sde registered tables would be quite easy I guess and
the appropriate way to indicate which ones to show and what not (registering
a table/view with sde works more or less like the postgis geometry_columns
table)
Bart, could you add a jira issue for this?
regards,
Gabriel
