Hello
We are using GeoServer 1.7 with the ArcSDE DataStore, to read from ArcSDE 9.2 on SQL Server 2005, Windows 2003 Server.
The customer cannot afford to pay the extra licensing fee involved with using the standard ArcSDE service and they want us to investigate if it is possible to use ArcSDE Direct Connect (see http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/9.2/index.cfm?TopicName=Creating_spatial_database_connections&anchor=ssdc) instead.
According to http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=knowledgebase.techarticles.articleShow&d=19887, DirectConnect should be supported in the ArcSDE 9.2 Java API.
We have tested with the standard GeoServer Config DataSource interface, but it seems to require the port as an integer:
“port must be a valid class java.lang.Integer: org.geotools.data.DataSourceException”
Direct Connect using the syntax sde:sqlserver:
Best Regards
