Hello,
I am fairly new to Geoserver...I have an OpenLayers mapping application that
uses Geotiffs served by Geoserver. I need to have controls on my map that
will allow a user to select a year/month combination that will load the
appropriate Geotiff from a time series of images. What is the best strategy
for storing the geotiffs in Geoserver, and then loading the correct geotiff
into my map based on the user-selected date? I need to use the same SLD in
Geoserver to correctly style how the geotiff is displayed.
I also need to be able to present a time series animation from a user
selected begin and end date.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated on the best way to set this up in
Geoserver...
Thanks, Vick

Look at the ImageMosaic plugin for raster time-series data at:
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/tutorials/imagemosaic_timeseries/imagemosaic_timeseries.html
You will end up enabling the time parameter when you publish your layer, and will then include the parameter in your WMS (or other) request for data by your client.
