[Geoserver-users] Big GeoTiff visualisation "artifacts"

Hi all,

We are using Geoserver ( currently 2.3.0 ) since quite some time and are very pleased with his ease in usage and the achieved performance in our professional environment. Great work!

But we are facing an issue with hosting a particular Geotiff file.

Here’s the scenario:

We have a 81GB rst file ( 1 Band of Floats ) that we converted into geotiff using GDAL ( python api ).

We have converted the floats to Int32 ( after multiplication with 100 )

We have added the georeference, added tiling ( 512x512 ), set the NOData value, then we added 5 level of pyramids using bicubic resampling.

The resulting image is a 109GB Geotiff that can be easily and fast accessed via QGis, no artefacts …

Now we have put the Geotiff under the geoserver, added the SLD for coloring and get this strange result but we don’t see the cause.

And as stated earlier, we can open this Geotiff using QGis without the strange effects …

Here you can find the an image unveiling the error: http://imgur.com/9SsMmsl

Details about the installation:

· ( Build Information : Version 2.3.0 n Git Revision 257c5f6a57df84ecf2aaea392fe8e22dbd70ca09, Build Date 16-Mar-2013 14:00 ,GeoTools Version 9.0 (rev cd6a0ac13e0ccd9ed3df653e1d7ca640a80ed86d) ,GeoWebCache Version 1.4- )

· Jai is used, Java version is; java version “1.6.0_24”, Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_24-b07), Java HotSpot™ 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.1-b02, mixed mode)

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

do you have any chance to replicate this problem on a reduced part of your sample data which can be shared with us so we can take a look on it?

Which OS are you using?

Please, let us know.
Regards,
Daniele
