[Geoserver-users] Call for Online MiniSprint

Dear All,
sorry for cross posting but I believe this is something that might
impact both users as well as developers of GetoTools and GeoServer.

I wanted to propose an online, distributed, loosely coordinated 1 day
sprint in the short term where people can help GeoServer as well as
GeoTools with things like:
- reviewing open JIRA
- fixing bugs
- improving documentation
- doing testing and so on
- cheering the others up

Coordination could be as simple as a google spreadsheet where people
can log what they are working on + an hangout to chat if/as needed.
This could become a recurrent event, like one a month in the future.
The goal is not to develop new features but to improve quality of code
and documentation.

Right now I have in mind two dates:
- 22nd of July
- 29th of July

We at GeoSolutions are happy with both dates and we will do this
anyway, to get the ball rolling.

Looking forward to reading your feedback. I might move this email over
to a post on the GeoServer blog to gain more attention.

My +1 for July 22nd.

Hard to schedule a monthly “bug rodeo” at the end of the month.

As per meeting discussion It may be helpful to have a couple volunteers to prep the day before so we can be effective on July 22nd.

Dear All,
sorry for cross posting but I believe this is something that might
impact both users as well as developers of GetoTools and GeoServer.

Ciao Jody,
I created a small blog post.

I will wait until this late afternoon if someone wants to review than I will release it and will send an email to the various ML.

On a different note, I started to review the issues we collected for GT/GS which are in the spreadsheet which I shared as part of the rule engagement document, so people might want to look at or simply ignore and do their own thing ( as long as we coordinate on Fri!).

Thanks for blog post/organization. Reviewing blog post nownow - adding a picture of gitter to make it more fun/visual. I will also push via boundless blog …

Looking at rules of engagement doc it looks like https://gitter.im/geoserver came up the winner. Think we may use that and the occasional hangout to share screen as required. And a good turn out thus far, thanks to everyone who has volunteered.
