[Geoserver-users] Coverage store from external WMS

Hi,

is it possible to create a coverage store where the source dataset is not a
local file, such as a geotiff, but an external WMS?

I'm asking because I have access to an external WMS but not to its WCS
capabilities. So, I was hoping to create a local geoserver coverage using
the external WMS as the source then I could use the local WCS to download
the image files.

Is this possible? Is there a way to access the external WCS?

Any help appreciated,
Dave

Nope, it's not possible. We lack, inside the configuration, the very
idea of a layer that's not vector, but it's not a georeferenced coverage
either, so we cannot do cascading (for which we'd already have the
code in the geotools gt-wms module, which is a wms client).
