Is there any plans to add CSW to geoserver?

We've contemplated some loose integration with GeoNetwork, which is the best open source CSW out there - just now they're finishing up being the CSW 2.0 reference implementation for OGC.

Gabriel Roldan I believe is also working on one based on the GeoServer framework, not sure on his time frame for finishing it up though.

As far as I know the opposite happened, GeoNetwork integrated
GeoServer as the WMS/WFS service that can be used to publish
data in their catalog.
