[Geoserver-users] Custom Projections

Hi. I've got geoserver 1.7.4 running on a Windows Server 2003 box. I downloaded the .war file and expanded its contents into my Tomcat 6.0.18's webapps directory.

Basic functionality is working. I'm using ArcSDE (I've installed the plugin) as my data source.

Under the "demo" page's "Map Preview", my data looks okay.

With a simple OpenLayers setup my data is there but it's quite distorted.

I'm using a custom projection (for which there is no specific EPSG number). When adding one of my data sets, Geoserver seemed to think EPSG 3005 was the right one, and I've been using it, but I don't think its quite right. It's the correct projection (Albers), but uses different parameters from my data (central meridian, latitude of origin, etc. are different).

What's the proper way to set up Geoserver for my data's projection?

http://geoserver.org/display/GEOSDOC/Custom+projection+definition+in+Geoserver+1.5.0+(onwards)

You should create your custom code in epsg.properties, restart
geoserver, and force that in the FeatureType UI.
