[Geoserver-users] drag-and-drop (or add) GeoServer published WMS to embedded OpenLayer portal

Hi all,
We are working on a project to ingest the geo-spatial dataset (via QGIS/PostGIS) and then publish it as WMS/WFS/WCS in GeoServer. We need to design a catalog portal to render the dataset.
We like to add an embedded openlayer-enabled map viewer (similar to what geoserver previewer ) to our portal, which has the base map (like Google Street) and then drag-and-drop WMS (via uri link) into it.
Is it doable? Any helps on the sample link, hints and suggestions are much appreciated.

GeoServer can be a component in just such a solution, for examples (or perhaps a starting place), have a look at both GeoNode and GeoNetwork (which uses GeoServer as part of a catalog or portal application).

Consider GeoServer as a component as part of a larger system you are constructing. if you have budget you may wish to reach out to some of the folks on our commercial support page to get a running start on this activity.

We have been looking at the GeoNetwork MapViewer and GeoServer Layer preview. The requirement is that we need to have the openlayer in our own catalog portal. Currently we are still instigating, and definitely we are interested in the commercial support. Please directly contact me offline if you can offer the support.

I just noticed you sent this to geoserver-devel, that list is focused on geoserver development and we should not interrupt. Keeping this discussion on geoserver-users.

My employer offers support on GeoNetwork, I also encourage reach out to folks on our commercial support page. By choosing service providers that contribute to the open source projects, rather than those that just have expertise using the technology, we contribute to the long term sustainability of GeoServer.
