I am using BING aerial as a base map and trying to move the map to a coordinate and add a marker
The search system I am using stores its coordinates in EPSG:27700 , I am re projecting using proj4s to EPSG:900913
The map is in roughly the right area but is 50 mteres or so out
Any idea why ?

Might be due to wrong datum shifts params, or lack of a grid based
transformation (ntv2 and the like)
to make a precise datum shift.
If you are using proj4s to do the transformations, you should probably ask
on their mailing list (if they have any)
