Hi Paul,
first i would like to ask you for a speaking subject in your mail. It helps me and probably most other users to get a first impression of your problem, for example "SLD-errormessage" or something like that.
Concerning your question I have the following thoughts: It seems that you have a style where you defined an element "UserStyle" which contains characters in it, for example:
<UserStyle>test</UserStyle>
I am not an SLD expert but it seems to me that this isnt possible. I think it is only possible to do this:
<UserStyle>
<anotherElement>test</anotherElement>
</UserStyle>
Perhaps you post the concerned style so we could have a look if my answer doesn't help.
Cheers
Stefan

Subject: [bulk]: [Geoserver-users] error
Hi all
In creating an SLD has anyone experienced this error message before? Im relatively new to Geoserver but cannot see what I have done wrong
line 273: cvc-complex-type.2.3: Element 'UserStyle' cannot have character [children], because the type's content type is element-only.
