[Geoserver-users] extension ArcSDE is not running

Hello,

I installed ArcSDE GeoServer Extension (extension+librairie+SDK) with
GeoServer v1.5.3.
During the installation, it's said: "additionnal services are being started
in background. I try to create a datastore, but I can´t see the option SDE
in the storages!

Thanks for your help,

Flavie

Flavie,

Have you also installed the jsde jar files? Have you followed the
instructions for installation from here:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOTDOC/ArcSDE+DataStore

If you've done all of the above, but you're still having problems, can you
send along any exceptions or warning messages from the logfile?

thanks,
--saul

Hi Flavie,

Sounds like you are doing about the same thing that I am. I've made some
headway, now being able to display ArcSDE vector data, but I haven't gotten
the raster to work yet. As Saul indicated in his reply to you, please take
a look at the doco link that he provided (though you may have to wait a bit
as it appears that the codehaus.org site is very slow at the moment).

I did discover that (after switching over to 1.6 beta3) I had to copy the
ArcSDE .jar files and the ArcSDE extension files into the WEB-INF\lib
directory. In addition, Saul provided me a nightly build .war file from
which I extracted the gt2-arcsde-2.4-SNAPSHOT.jar file and dropped into
\WEB-INF\lib, leaving it named as is. After doing this, ArcSDE showed up in
the Coveragestore and Datastore. As mentioned above, I can now display
vector data, but I have something wrong someplace as I cannot display raster
data.

Please visit
http://www.nabble.com/ArcSDE---blank-map-display-and-problem-setting-SLD-tf4562442.html
for some details on what I've been trying to do, including the link to
Saul's .war file that I mention above. Please also note that in my current
version that I am using, 1.6 beta 3, I cannot create KML files. But it
appears that beta 4 has fixed this.

Regards, Bob
