This is a question regarding ArcSDE plugin support for Military Analyst VPF catalogs created by ArcCatalog.
The VPF catalogs reside in a database (such as Oracle) as a single table, with multiple feature classes contained in them.
In GeoServer, we are able to see VPF catalog show up in the FeatureType list. However, it does not parse through and show the separate feature classes contained in the catalog, even though the feature classes contain simple vector data.
Does this mean the ArcSDE plugin does not support VPF catalogs? If so are there any plans to support it? It seems similar to an existing open issue regarding Raster Catalogs. I have referenced it below.
GEOT-1744 - "Support ArcSDE Raster Catalogs made up of any supported raster storage type.

How is this possible? Do you have many nullable columns and
each feature class uses only a subset?

Hum... there should be a 1-1 relationship between the tables
reported by ArcSDE and what you see in GeoServer...
Gabriel, any idea of what's happening here?
Rett, do the ArcSDE related tools show just one feature class,
or many?

Unless it's a simple bug fix, no, there are no plans to support
that in the near future. ArcSDE improvements are driven mainly
by developer contributions (if you're interested, have a look
at the developer guides on the GeoServer and GeoTools site,
and join us on IRC, GeoServer at irc.freenode.net)
or by organisations sponsoring commercial
support providers to implement the missing features, see also: http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/Commercial+Support
