The freemarker template is an important feature for us and others like the AODN.
In fact I was holding off on this fix be done before we would upgrade
our Geoserver.
Is there a recent Geoserver build available that I could download and
test the fix.

It has now been committed to the master branch, and I think we will backport it soon on to 2.4.x.
It has not been released in an official version yet, but we will keep you updated as soon as it is.

Thanks, I have tested the FreemarkerTemplate now with the nightly build 2.4.x
2013-09-11 + arcSDE plugin and its working OK (see attachment with
styled getFeature info
output. We look forward to when the stable 2.4 comes out and we will upgrade
to that.
