Hello.
I'm having some output format problems iwth Geoserver (default install) and was wondering if anyone could help.
When requesting zippled GML (GML2-GZIP), I only get unzipped GML. I've tried every iteration of the gml-gzip string possible, without success. As GML files get large fast, I'd like to have the ability to compress those down.
When requesting a shapefile containing attributes containing decimal points, I get a Java big decimal error. As most of my shapefiles are "scientific" in nature, I can't get away from this. Is there a way around this error?
Finally, when requesting lines from geoserver, as KML, I get an empty kml file returned. Is there a way I can see what's going wrong with the creation of that file? As it stands, I'm left scratching my head as to why my lines get outputted into kml. They work with every other format just fnie.
Many Thanks
Dave

This definitely was working in previous versions. I have replicated it here and can confirm that it isn't working now. I will create a bug report and fix it.

This has come up before and we will be looking into it. If you can supply us a small shapefile with some sample data it will help a great deal with the fixing.

Could you show us the SLD file you are using for the lines? KML doesn't support reprojection yet so your data has to be in lat/lon (4326) projection. We do have plans to add reprojection into KML very soon.
Many Thanks
Dave

Brent,
Thanks for your prompt response previously. Since your last email, I tried upgrading to the latest 1.4 version of Geoserver, but the problems I was experiencing in 1.3.3 still remain, specifically the shapefile error (
java.io.IOException: Unable to write : java.math.BigDecimal) and the GML2-GZIP not being returned (bug report created?).
Regarding the shapefile issue, I've uploaded a shapefile which is causing that BigDecimal error.

Hi Dave
These issues have been pushed to the next version. The 1.3.4 release was the final one to wrap up the 1.3 series. The 1.4 release after this next one should contain the fixes along with some others. I will make sure the bug report is scheduled for that release so we can get it out soon.
