Good day,
I restarted my Windows 2012 server today. It prompted me to install the latest java 8 181 version, which I installed. Since then, the GeoServer 2.9.0 service fails to start up. See error message below:
Please respond urgently to resolve this issue.

Please include the text of the error message from the log file rather than the image (which is missing).
In general this sort of update should be tested on a non production machine before risking a production problem.
If this is urgent I suggest that you contact a commercial support supplier otherwise you will need to wait for volunteer time to be available, which is unlikely with a windows server setup as I don’t think any of the normal volunteers are using windows.

Thank you for your response. I had a look at geoserver log file in the mean time, noticed that it was expecting java update in a different folder than the actual update. Fixed the update location and the service started successfully.
Kind regards.

Hi,
This might be a simple case of a wrong path to the Java folder (updating Java will change the name of the folder, and I don’t think tomcat gets automatically updated to the new one).
Could you try opening the Tomcat Configuration Window and make sure that it is configured to whatever folder path is now (from your previous e-mail it should be something like C:\Program Files\Java\jre.1.8.0_181\bin\server\jvm.dll
If the path is configured correctly, and the service still fails to start, as mr. Turton already said, try sending the log files so that we might take a look at them. Also, it is always a good idea to first try changes on a staging environment, whenever possible.

Hi,
Thank you for your response. That was exactly the problem, wrong path for Java update.
My problem was resolved.
Kind regards,
Madeleine
