[Geoserver-users] GeoServer and OGC Compliance

Hi
On the GeoServer site it says that GeoServer is OGC compliant, but while cross referencing on the OGC site, status is marked as Implementing.
Can anyone please throw some light on this?

Given if GeoServer is not compliant and is only implementing, then what are the points that one need to work on to make it compliant.

Thanks

Hi Anunay,
I believe it varies depending on which OGC standard.

I’d assume if GeoServer says it is compliant it is. I know GeoServer is a reference implementation for a random mix of the standards too (i.e. WCS 1.x and WFS 1.0).

I agree it’s not clear which ones are compliant with what, but that’s an issue with the OGC webpage.

I can explain, you need to pay money to officially run the certification tests, and are rewarded with a cute badge for your website.

Various sponsors have paid for GeoServer to be official, you can see the badges on geoserver.org

We do run the certification tests, unofficially on our own hardware, prior to each release, and indeed as part of the nightly build:

So if you know anyone with deep pockets we would love to get a bit more bling for the website.
