I am using geoserver 2.1.4. I am not able to publish layer and even It does
not throws error.
Have you successfully created the store using that shapefile (you are having problems on publishing layer or also creating the store)?
You are using the web interface or the REST one? (if REST please attach the call)
I debugged in GEOTOOLS_DEVELOPER_LOGGING.PROPERTIES log level.
I show info like the Read and Write operation is locked for shapfile.log file info:
DEBUG [org.geoserver] - Thread 63 got the lock in mode WRITE
DEBUG [org.geotools.data.shapefile] - Read lock:
file:/C:/tomcat/webapps/geoserver/data/data/sample/test.shp by Shapefile
Datastore’s getBounds Method
This is not relevant could you attach a larger piece of log?
You are on Windows so you are using exclusive locks on file, be sure to close all the editors on that shapefile before trying to access with geoserver.
