[Geoserver-users] [Geoserver-devel] Seperate label and graphic in textsymbolizer

Hi Justin,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I have tried your suggestion but it won’t work for my case.
I think I should specify my question more carefully here:

I’m trying to build a small piece of map with cities showing up on top. I want to associate a “dot” with each city name (like google/yahoo map does ).
However, if I use pointsymbolizer to draw the dots and textsymbolizer to draw the labels, it turned out that there will be much more dots than labels because labels don’t allow overlaps while dots are much smaller and will be everywhere.
If I use the in Textsymbolizer to draw the dots it turned out that the graphic will always be overlapped with the text label, and that’s why I asked that how to separate graphic component and text component in Textsymbolizer.
I don’t know if I’m doing it correctly, any suggestions to solve this problem? (I believe there is a solution=) )

Best,
Yi

Hi Yi,

I was not aware that a graphic was supported inside of a TextSymbolizer… however, have you tried using the “LabelPlacement” element inside of the TextSymbolizer?

ps. This query is probably better made on the users list, you will get a better response there.

Hello,

I’m trying to separate the label (text) with the graphic component both written in .
However they seem to be overlapped all the time with the graphic at the center of the text.
Does anyone know how to do that?
BTW, I know the fact that we can use to draw graphic but for my case it has other problems.

Thanks in advance,
Yi
