Hmmm... no real need, the ArcSDE module maintainer is a GeoServer
developer as well. I know he's very busy right now, but he might
chime in if we keep the messages on the mailing list 
Also, I did find a problem with the web.xml for the GeoServer 1.70a war.
Weblogic 9.2 would not activate the war due to a bean already exists error.The following is duplicated in the web.xml file:
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>dispatcher</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/rest/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
