[Geoserver-users] GeoServer - Exception

Hi!
Geoserver was working fine with shapefiles for me but suddenly not anymore. I can open the Geoserver page to configure my data but when I want to save any changes I get:
*GeoServer - Exception
The following exception was thrown:
**/|java.lang.NullPointerException|/ *
Ialso get that when I want to open the demo page.
I might ope the WFS-T example but only can see the roads and cities (also the cities I added before, and I can still add cities) but in the background instead of the map I see pink tiles. If I want to open the link to my files that I saved before with an own html page that implements OpenLayers I can also only see pink tiles in OpenLayers surrounding's. And if I click on it to get feature info like it was before I get underneath the map where the results should be:
*No code "EPSG:31370" from authority "European Petroleum Survey Group" found for object of type "IdentifiedObject".*
But that's not true. It stands for BelgianLambert 72 and it used to work before. Don't see what happened and the geoserver.log is empty.
Any ideas?
Kathrin

Hi Kathrin,

This seems to come up when users upgrade from an eariler version of
GeoServer to 1.6.x. Which version are you using? Also are you running
with a servlet container or the embedded jetty version. If you are
indeed upgrading to 1.6.x, try locating your "temp/Geotools" directory.
If you are running with tomcat it will be under the "temp" directory. If
running with jetty it will be under your home directory temp directory.

Hi Justin,
I don't believe that anybody tried to update to 1.6.x When I open Geoserver in my webbrowser it says: Welcome to GeoServer 1.5.4.
And I can't imagine that the guys from the IT department would update it if I don't ask them to. But I will check with them just to be sure.
I think we use the embedded jetty version as I found next to the /tmp/Geotools a /tmp/Jetty_0_0_0_0_8080__geoserver_ folder.
Thanks
Kathrin
