Take a look here:

The *.png files should be in the GeoServer’s styles directory or you can reference them with http://www.yourserver.com/icon.lpng

Hi all,
I’ve been using Geoserver since some weeks and I would like to attach icons on a map obtained via http using the WMS getMap capability.

How can i do?

For example I would like to obtain a map telling the server where to place an icon?

is it possible?
