[Geoserver-users] GeoServer on Java 1.5 poll

Hey everyone. So the idea of perhaps making Java 1.5 required has come up several times in the past. I've always shot it down, but for the first time I'm actually considering it. So if you've got good reasons for not making 1.5 required, please, please let us know. Read more, comment (do it on the blog, not the mailing list), and vote at:

thanks!

Well, I cant get trunk to run reliably under 1.4 anymore (though it builds), so I've just upgraded finally, having resisted for as long as possible. So it seems we're going there by stealth anyway, which is less than ideal. I'd bite the bullet for geoserver 1.6, the performance gains would seem to justify it. and I'm not sure anyone is going to volunteer the resources to _fix_ 1.4 now. Otherwise, there is going to need to be a significant systematic effort to make sure all versions are supported for build/test/deploy lifecycles.

I suppose if someone wants to insist on 1.4, they can take this job on, and if they dont do it in time, then GS 1.6 can be released as Java 1.5 application only.

Hi all.

I would like to give an opinion, I forgive if this will not be correct.
Mas se o esforço vai ser muito grande para passar o GeoServer para Java 5 por que não já pensar em Java 6?
Two caused me much impact these links:

I only want to contribute and not to confuse.

Best regards,
Carlos FG

The poll thing didn’t work… Java 1.5 as a requirement is fine for me.

Yeah, the geoserver blog host is unreachable to me, too.
Probably down. I'm contacting the administrator to see if
we can bring it back up.

Cheers
Andrea

Ugh, sorry all. Shouldn't have put it up right before I left work, as it had been giving me problems, but then it was working for me. It should work now. Let me know if it doesn't.
