I am trying to deploy the geoserver war file into Tomcat 5.5 running on Ubuntu. The standalone geoserver version works fine in its own directory, but when I try to deploy the war file, it fails trying to startup the /geoserver path in Tomcat manager. The following lines in tomcat log appear to point out some kind of permission issue (bold line below), but I cannot figure out why or how to solve it:

Do you have any data in there? Is the catalog.xml present?
