[Geoserver-users] Geoserver PostGIS WFS layer sometimes loses its prefix

I’m having a recurring problem where WFS responses on PostGIS layers in our Geoserver (2.2-RC1) will “lose” their prefix. In other words, the prefix comes back as null, causing a XML parsing error. What’s odd is that I can go into the Geoserver web admin interface, access the problem layer, click “Reload feature type”, and the layer will start working again. It will work OK for a few weeks and then do it again.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

I don't remember this particular problem, but can you tell us which
version of GeoServer you're using?

Back then I did not have a clue off the top of my head, but searching the archives leads to this:

So far, seems like a known problem with no immediate solution (aka, quite a bit of work
to fix it).

Thanks for the update Andrea.

I’m trying to understand the specifics of what is going on…global endpoint…virtual endpoint…it’s a tad over my head.

It sounds like there are potential workarounds, but I’m failing to grasp what they might be. Can you boil it down?

Andrea,

I found one application using our server that was not having this problem, and it appears to be making its requests using WFS 1.0.0, which if I’m reading correctly, defaults to using GML 2. The applications that ARE having problems were specifying WFS 1.1.0, which I think defaults to GML 3. Is this a workaround? The email thread you linked to specifically mentioned GML 3 as being involved in the problem.
