[Geoserver-users] GeoServer renders tiled-geotiff in non-uniform color

I used the Geoserver OpenLayers previewer to view some of my 16-bit Geotiff
landsat imagery I downloaded from USGS site. When I set the previewer
tiling option to "Single tile", the image looked fine. However, when I set
it to "Tiled", the image tiles color are not consisten. Is it a bug or
there is something wrong with the data? Please see the attached screenshot
for details. Let me know if you need the sample image. In fact the image
is the one I uploaded to Google Drive for Nicola to debug the
"ClassCastException" problem I posted earlier.

Ciao Tam,
you need to provide an SLD for your data otherwise GeoServer
will simply try to stretch the data with a local approach to the
incoming request.

This means that if you load it in a tiled client it will appear to
show a checkeboard approach.

As I mention I would suggest to use a proper SLD with a
RasterSymbolizer part. It can be a grayscale one or a full color one
like this one:
https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/blob/master/data/release/styles/dem.sld

Either way, you, as the data owner, need to decide the color scheme.

Simone Giannecchini
