Hi,
I tried this earlier here, hope this time someone will have an answer.
We are using Geoserver 2.6.0 on java 1.7.0_71 with Postgres (postgis) 9.2,
running on a virtual server Windows Server 2008 R2.
2.6.0 is six months old, wondering why you're not running 2.6.2 or 2.6.3?
Absolutely vanilla installation, no special confing either on Geoserver or
Postgres side.
Geoserver keeps hanging and crashing, going through the log I found few
different errors:
1. java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Are you getting much traffic on that node? Or requesting large maps?
The vanilla installation at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/geoserver/files/GeoServer/2.6.0/geoserver-2.6.0.exe/download
is suitable for demo purposes, but not really recommended for production,
you should use a properly setup
Tomcat for production on a Windows platform.
Historically Windows has been the platform where people tested out things,
but then almost everybody
run production in a Tomcat on Linux.
Things are changing, as GeoServer starts breaking into Microsoft feuds, and
indeed we don't have a easy "click click click"
installer for a Windows production server, even if often people with light
needs just get manage with the current installer.
That said, given the other error messages you're getting, you are either
facing too much traffic, or might have
poorly setup styles/database indexes.
2. org.geoserver.platform.ServiceException: Rendering process failed
3. java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.IOException
4. org.geoserver.platform.ServiceException: This requested used
more time than allowed and has been forcefully stopped. Max rendering time
is 60.0s
This is also compatible with either very slow hardware, poorly setup styles
(e.g., trying to display everything at once at low zoom levels), or lack of
indexes.
Cheers
Andrea
