Does geoserver still support VPF format? I am using Geoserver 2.5. When I

extension and got: HTTP 404 error. Does it mean Geoserver has dropped

Thanks for your help. I got the link by following the instruction from the
User Manual. It looks like the link from the User Manual is wrong and it
needs to be updated.

on the list of extensions for 2.5 release. VPF plugin only shows up on
release 2.4.6. Does it mean support for VPF has been dropped from Geoserver
after 2.4.6 release? If VPF is dropped from future geoserver releases,
what is the work around that allows me to use it in geoserver? Can I use
2.4.6 VPF plugin with geoserver 2.5? What is the performance of geoserver
VPF plugin?

Yes, it has been dropped due to extended lack of a maintainer.

Not sure it will work, it may not. About the performance, no idea, I've
never used it

The code did not have a module maintainer (i.e. funded developer looking after it). As a result it had suffered bit-rot: tests had gradually been commented out (during the transition to GeoTools 10 feature model).
We have not thrown it out, as the format can be saved with a bit of elbow grease - but it will require money or love
