I am looking at using GeoServer and SQL Server 2008 together. Can GeoServer
run as WMS, WFS, WFS-T for vector data in SQL Server 2008. Are there any
things to look our for in this matter? Any links on the subject?

Hi Ian,
Yes, it can. Some links that may help:
The installation/instruction page:
http://docs.geoserver.org/1.7.x/user/data/sqlserver.html
A good trouble shooting email:
http://www.nabble.com/SQL-Server-2008-datastore-connection-td22461607.html
The most common issues seem to be:
* not specifying the dbname when connecting
* ensuring that your data has a proper SRID set on it. This is more a bug which has been reported here:
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-2997
Hope that helps.
