[Geoserver-users] Geoserver WPS crop coverage output

Hello together,

using Geoserver Version 2.8.2 I am currently playing around with the
WPS-Extension trying to clip some coverages. What I'm curious about is
the fact that the output file seems somehow resampled compared to he
original input image. I've uploaded a subset of the original image and
one of the output of the WPS process.

Here's the link to the images:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mx6txcebeimil4k/wps_result.zip?dl=0

I've used the built-in WPS Request Builder with following parameters:
GS:crop coverage with an ImageMosaic Layer as input and a
polygon-wkt-string as cropping geometry. This process runs just fine but
the output seems to be resampled like I said.
I really would appreciate if someone could help me with that issue.

thanks in advance

Hi Alexander,
I don’t have time to try locally now, but maybe with some hints from you this
one can move forward regardless.
Resampled how? And how did you setup your request?

I remember having issues with with WPS builder requests because the
input goes though WCS 1.1, which is not exactly the best protocol to get
a coverage out without any change (no obvious way to just say "give it to
me like it is)… at one point if memory serves me right a second process
was setup to called GetFullCoverage that takes the name of a coverage
and returns it un-modified.

You might want try to use that and chain the crop one in output

Also, if all you want to do is “clip and ship”, there is also the DownloadProcess
module, it’s a community module that you can get from the community
builds here:

Cheers
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

thanks for your answer. With resampled I meant the resolution of the output image. As you can see in my exaple images, the output image has a (optically) lower resolution than the input one. But that’s just optically because if I run gdalinfo on both of the images it tells me that they have the same pixel sizes. Anyway you really helped me out with your hint about the DownloadProcess module which is exactly what I was looking for.

With this module and with the GetFullCoverage Process I’m able to reach my goal getting the image data as I uploaded it to Geoserver! Thank you so much!

Cheers
Alexander
