[Geoserver-users] geowebcache security

I’d like to prevent anonymous users from seeing the list of layers in the geowebcache.

I’ve tried:

· Creating service access rule for gwc.* that allows only admin to access it

· Setting catalog mode to “Hide”

· Setting data rules so that no workspaces can be accessed by anonymous

But in all these cases, GWC will still list the layers and only challenge when you try and seed htem. Is there a way to prevent GWC from listing all the layers in geoserver?

Thanks,

I believe only modifying GWC code so that also the capabilities part is
aware of the security restrictions is the only way to go

I agree, this requires an up-stream change in GWC’s API. It is a good idea, and could probably be combined with adding support for virtual services as both require providing filtered views of the catalogue.
