[Geoserver-users] GeoWebCache

Hello again,

I’m not sure if it just me, but the documentation for super overlays and GeoWebCache isn’t working for me. I’m completely confused now.

Starting with the GWC readme.txt, I copied the Jars, restarted GS. Then it says to try:

http://localhost:8080/geoserver/gwc/service/ve?layers=topp:states&quadkey=02

Well, my RC4 didn’t like that, couldn’t find any sort of ve service. 404 error.

So, onward, found this:

http://geowebcache.org/trac/wiki/google_earth

It says:

Using GeoWebCache with GeoServer is as easy as changing the URL. For example, if your application requests WMS tiles at the following URL:

http://example.com:8080/geoserver/wms

To invoke GeoWebCache, use:

http://example.com:8080/geoserver/gwc/service/wms

As soon as tiles are requested through GeoWebCache, it automatically starts caching them. These tiles are stored by default in the %GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR%/gwc path, with each FeatureType in its own subdirectory. As more tiles are requested for each FeatureType, the size of this directory will grow.<<

Well, I have a working WMS in 4326 for my mosaiced MrSids at:

http://localhost:8080/geoserver/wms?bbox=-94.69222728013379,33.55734917092073,-94.36877874327614,33.75674556480973&styles=&Format=application/openlayers&request=GetMap&version=1.1.1&layers=GwcTest&width=800&height=462&srs=EPSG:4326

So, I tried the above suggestion:

http://localhost:8080/geoserver/gwc/service/wms?bbox=-94.69222728013379,33.55734917092073,-94.36877874327614,33.75674556480973&styles=&Format=application/openlayers&request=GetMap&version=1.1.1&layers=GwcTest&width=800&height=462&srs=EPSG:4326

It gets a 404 error.

I tried a few more things, but nothing seems to work.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks!!
