[Geoserver-users] Getting started with geoserver

Hi all.
I am trying to get started using geoserver but having some difficulties. What I firstly and mostly need todo is to add few jpg rasterfiles to the server but I can't find good example or tutorial todo that. Can anyone point me the right direction.

best regards
Einar

Just choose a different format as appropriate to your need.

I managed to work this out with one jpg raster file (I had tryed this tutorial before but always choosed wrong type  ). There are two slight proplems tough. When I goto the demo and zoom in the map will go all white. Is there any config or something I can try? Secondly, I have 66 of those jpg files that make one area. Is there quick way to put the all in there?

Ciao Einar,
a few quick suggestions:

Jpeg is not the best format for GIS + Java, I would suggest you to:

1> convert your tiff files to tiled geotiff
2> add overviews to your tiff files
3> create a mosaic
4> serve the mosaic with geoserver

Here you have some sample documentation that describe how to this preprocessing with open source tools:

make sure to give the tutorials a look in that order, however, feel free to come back with questions.

Ciao,
Simone.
