[Geoserver-users] GoeServer integrated GeoWebCache: bounding box doesn't work while seeding/reseeding/truncate

Hi, GeoServer users,

We ary trying to use GeoWebCache Seed/Truncate GUI to reseed/seed/truncate our current layers.
We encountered following issue:
While we input values for bounding box and click the submit, the return web pages only shows a number of “14”. There are nothing else displayed. We used EPSG:900913 as Grid set with image/png as format and bounding box value is under EPSG:900913.

Anyone has ever encountered the same issue or have any idea?

Thanks a lot,

Hi Aijun,

I’m guessing you’re trying to use the integrated GWC seeder tool? If so you shouldn’t be getting that response. Its been a while, but I’m fairly sure that if what you’ve entered is valid, it should instantly start acting on it.

Alternately, if the web-interface is failing you, you could try using the API: http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/geowebcache/rest/seed.html

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hi, Jonathan,

Thanks for your kind explaination.

Yes. I am using integrated GWC seeding/truncting tool.
Right now, the tool works fine if I don’t provide coordinates of bounding box for specific area.
However, when I provided a non-default bounding box, the response webpage only shows a number of “13” or “14”.

Hi Aijun,

Verify that the coordinates entered are valid for the coordinate reference system desired. I seem to remember having issues in the past entering WGS84 (EPSG:4326) coordinates by mistake when I needed to enter web Mercator (EPSG:3857) coordinates, or the other way around.

Hi, Shamus,

Yes. You are right. I did realize this issue.
And I used EPSG:900913 and entered the coordinates that are showed for EPSG:900913 in default by GWC.
I also tried different coordindates under EPSG:900913.
It still returned “14”

See attached screen-cutting.

Thanks,

Aijun,

Hi, Shamus,

Thanks a lot.

I will follow your suggestion to have a try when I get time.

Hi Aijun,

I had seen that error a long time ago, maybe a year or two ago, but I do not have in my notes any reference to it, so I do not know what caused it or how it was fixed, sorry.

I would guess you have already tried but the only other suggestion I have is to restart the server, try a smaller extent, try a different CRS and see if you get a different result. You may be able to turn on a more verbose log level and get something useful in the logs.
