[Geoserver-users] GWC seeding: Error rendering coverage on the fast path

Hi,

I am using Geoserver 2.5 (release) installed from zip on Win-7 64-bit and a bit old jre 1.7.0_07(ORA) .

I managed to get errors also from the normal layer preview window by doing the following:

  • I created image mosaic topp:os from the two OS tiles

  • Clicked on layer preview

  • Zoomed till scale 1:35K

  • Panned the map to the East

  • Now I start seeing an empty map

  • Changing zoom level to 1:70K or 1:17K shows map in this location

  • Error at 1:35K is the java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException

I could repeat the java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException error also from browser with URL

http://localhost:8080/geoserver/topp/wms?BBOX=385000,487500,387500,490000&VERSION=1.1.1&FORMAT=image/jpeg&SERVICE=WMS&HEIGHT=256&LAYERS=topp:os&REQUEST=GetMap&STYLES=&SRS=EPSG:27700&WIDTH=256

The method I used to capture the previous error was to open the GWC demo window from http://localhost:8080/geoserver/gwc/demo/topp:os?gridSet=EPSG:4326&format=image/png

Screen captures from the layer preview and GWC demo attached.

Hi,

Yes, I can repeat the error. At one certain zoom level requests to get some tiles always fail. The error at Geotools dev level is:

16 touko 11:25:35 ERROR [org.geowebcache.GeoWebCacheDispatcher] - Problem communicating with GeoServ
er http://localhost:8080/geoserver/gwc/service/wms

Here comes all that appears into the log when panning a bit at that zoom level. It is quite a lot, normal Geoserver users can stop reading here.

I’ve just tried using the development version, making both direct wms calls and gwc ones in 4326 and 900913, png and jpeg… I’m getting no errors.

Then I’ve tried with the current 2.5.x series, and again, nothing.

Looking at Jukka’s log I’ve reconstructed this GetMap which should apparently fail, but it does not for me, I just get a blank output:

http://localhost:8080/geoserver/wms?BBOX=-2.109375,54.140625,-1.93359375,54.4921875&SERVICE=WMS&HEIGHT=512&REQUEST=GetMap&STYLES=raster&WIDTH=256&EXCEPTIONS=SE_XML&TRANSPARENT=true&VERSION=1.1.1&FORMAT=image/png&GWC_SEED_INTERCEPT=true&LAYERS=mosaicError&SRS=EPSG:4326

I likely have lost something along the 50 messages in this thread.

Jukka, which version of GeoServer were you trying, using which JDK and so on?

Cheers

Andrea
