I have a lot of problems using external data directory in GS 1.7. When I
change from 1.6.2 to 1.6.3 all works ok but when I try use 1.7 with the same
data directory TIFs don't show it, entities disapear... I can't understand
anything. I must change something more apart GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR parameter in
web.xml? Is catalog.xml from 1.6.3 working directly in 1.7? Is catalog.xml
from 1.6.3 fully compatible with 1.7?
I've try with WinXP; java JDKs 1.5.0_08 and 1.6.0_10; Apache Tomcat 5.5.27
and 6.0.18.
Thanks in advance.

Ciao Alfonso,
we probably failed a bit on the communication side of things.
When you update from the 1.6 to 1.7 you need to replace the old
raster.sld with the one you find here [1] since in 1.7. we have
implemented the raster symbolizer, hence the old raster style is not
ignored anymore and depending on the structure of your raster data,
you can run into problems.
