[Geoserver-users] How should i set output transparent, color ='no color' in image mosaic plug in in Geo server version 2.1x?

To have the nodata values transparent in my mosaics I had to leave the InputTransparentColor and OutputTransparentColor empty.

I used the style to set the nodata value to transparent

NOTE: If I set an output color the image would not display with an error “Rendering process failed. Band Number 2 is not valid”. Each image only had one band.

NB: Geoserver 2.0.2 installed on Windows Server 2008.

there should be a colorpicker associated to that field.

Otherwise, going by memory you should be able to set it in the HEX
for, e.g. #ffffff for white.

Tested the same imagemosaic on my development server with Geoserver 2.2.1 and setting the OutputTransparentColor worked with no errors. So obviously it was version 2.0.2, or my setup with 2.0.2.

Umair, for further clarification, you don't set the OutputTransparentColor to 'no color' you set it to the color that you want to make transparent. So in my imagemosaic the surrounding nodata values were coming out white when I previewed it. Setting the OutputTransparentColor to white (FFFFFF) then made those pixels transparent. It's not entirely logical and not well described in the documentation (The documentation actually says /OutputTransparentColor parameter configured with 'no color' /and /OutputTransparentColor parameter configured with 'no data' color)/ under the figures but this isn't particularly clear/.

there should be a colorpicker associated to that field.

Otherwise, going by memory you should be able to set it in the HEX
for, e.g. #ffffff for white.
