Hello,
In 1.6.5, the ImageMosaic plugin had a picture unav.png in its jar
that was displayed in mosaic areas without image data. I used to
change the unav.png to a transparent indexed png to get the areas to
be rendered as transparent to the client.
In 1.7.0 the unav.png is gone (tried adding one to the jar, but it
doesn't seem to care about it?)
The problem is that I cannot seem to the get the same behaviour in
1.7.0 as I did with 1.6.5. The default seem to that the mentioned
areas are displayed as black. I've tried to play around with
InputTransparentColor and OutputTransparentColor and this changes the
rendered color but it doesn't get me transparency.
How can I get the same behaviour as in 1.6.5?
With regards,
/Björn
I've tried to play around with InputTransparentColor and
OutputTransparentColor and this changes the rendered color but it

I don't know that PNG files use a "transparent color". Transparent GIFs
do - you nominate a colour (typically #FF00FF) to be transparent. But
PNGs are four channel. I suspect that even indexed PNGs are four
channel.

Hmm... no?
Most PNG producing applications can make indexed PNGs with only one
fully transparent indexed color value, resulting in similar
functionality as GIF, but the palette entries can actually all be more
or less transparent according to spec but this is rarely seen.
Non-indexed PNGs can use varying numbers of channels depending on if
the image uses RBG/grayscale and/or alpha channel.

Ciao bjorn,
that looks like a bug indeed.
Would you mind jumping on the IRC channel, I would like to discuss
this a bit before applying a patch.
Simone.

For others interested Simone made a patch (thank you!) which I tested
and verified solved the problem. It's probably safe to assume it's in
the 1.7.1 release, but I haven't verified that yet.
