[Geoserver-users] Installed 2.6.1 with new JRE and lost the UI

Good morning,

I just installed 2.6.1 after upgrading the JRE to the latest JRE 1.7 (64 bit) as required. Most everything seems to work in GeoServer, but the UI is text only in both Chrome and FF on Win7, see the screen shot.

Am I missing something?

looks like some coincedence with browser specific parsing of zipped css
and a little change in Geoserver.

Using Chrome fixes my local problem (untill it is fixed in Firefox or
Geoserver).

In Chrome? We are aware of an issue with Firefox 33 (apparently fixed in
33.1), but Chrome works fine here?

Seems to me, that css has not been updated on browser cache?
Try ctrl+f5

On firebug your site says "Bad gateway" on tree lines:
screen.css
print.css
geoserver.css

GeoServer is declaring a wrong (larger) content length for the gzip
compressed files returned by the GUI (css is one of them)
and the browser just keeps on waiting for the data to come.
We are fixing this, but the issue is relatively common, and browsers are
also fixing the issue. It seems it's due to a CSS parser
change that occurred in Chrome, and Firefox inherited it because it uses
the same

If you cannot update/change browsers, you can go in web.xml and comment out
compression for the css and javascript files.

For now I did the following in web.xml, and the UI is now working.

GZIP Compression Filter org.geoserver.filters.GZIPFilter compressed-types text/.*,.*xml.*,application/json,application/x-javascript

Change to:
