[Geoserver-users] IRC logs Oct 3

jgarnett confluence has shut us out of layout management, brent we talked a couple weeks ago about setting up the wiki based on parent child relationships as per justin's writing guidelines - that has not happened.
-->| aaime (n=wolf@anonymised.com) has joined GeoServer
jgarnett So I have produced the the same navigation pages as we had previously ...
aaime Hey Justin, double geoserver meeting today
jgarnett and switched over to the navigation theme - it is the best we can do while we are still on confluence.
  jgarnett http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOS/Home
sigq Title: Home - Confluence (at docs.codehaus.org)
  jgarnett http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDOC/Documentation
sigq Title: Documentation - Confluence (at docs.codehaus.org)
  jgarnett http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOSDEV/Home
sigq Title: Home - Confluence (at docs.codehaus.org)
jgarnett the search is bad, ie confluence not google, but it is "live" and will show you the list of pages as you type.
brent_ the search is definitely useful
brent_ cause we have a lot of docs
aaime Jody, how do we modify the mailing lists link now?
jgarnett go to the "Navigation" page and edit it ...
  jgarnett http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOS/Navigation
  aaime Ah, thank you
sigq Title: Navigation - Confluence (at docs.codehaus.org)
jgarnett note my link to "license is broken on the above page ... so please jump in and edit it
  aaime What is sigq?
  brent_ a bot
  aaime What does it do?
-->| appetkov (n=appetkov@anonymised.com) has joined GeoServer
brent_ just visits the link and posts the page title
jgarnett brent, if we cannot do the parent/child thing then we could also try organizing the pages by using "tags"
jgarnett and get an easy to maintain table of contents that way...
  brent_ parent child is fine
aaime Agenda item: we need gt2 2.2.1 before releasing geoserver 1.4.0...
jgarnett well do you want to set a time for a work party to actually do the parent child thing?
=-= brent_ has changed the topic to "0) propose agenda items 1) docs 2) need gt2 2.2.1 before releasing geoserver 1.4.0"
  brent_ probably after 1.4 RC1
jgarnett andrea, cool - so I ask that we give geotools one week notice.
aaime Brent, do you mean to switch to 2.2.1 after 1.4rc1?
brent_ sorry andrea, I meet reworking the website
  brent_ meet= meant
brent_ want to move to agenda item 2?
aaime Hum, the official release date for 1.4rc1 is? Jira says 17/jul/06, I guess we won't make it...
  aaime :-p
  brent_
brent_ yeh I need to change it still
brent_ let me do that now
  brent_ 2) need gt2 2.2.1 before releasing geoserver 1.4.0
  brent_ andrea?
aaime Yes, basically to fix one of the bugs that is scheduled for 1.4.0 I need a fix in gt2
aaime I've already setup a patch that Jesse is going to review and apply
  brent_ ok
aaime Anyway, this means we need a gt2 2.2.1 release in order to get the fix...
aaime (and btw, I don't know if the other things I have to fix live on the geoserver or the gt2 side of the fence)
aaime (so more fixing may be incoming)
  brent_ ok
jgarnett lets assume that we need a geotools 2.2.1 at some point, the uDig team continues to fix bugs (with more or less communication)
aaime Anyway, to release 1.4.0rc1 oct 16 we need a geotools release at least on Oct 12, to have one day to run the cite tests...
  aaime That's all
brent_ the main push to get 1.4 RC out is so we can branch and get the WCS guys online. The sooner the better for them. So if the bugs are going to take a lot of geotools work, we can probably branch sooner
aaime I have no problem with that
jdeolive the only reason for not branching today would be that alessio has volunteered to help out getting 1.4.0 out
jdeolive other then that i dont see a reason why we cant branch when he is ready
  aaime Me neither
  brent_ ok
  aaime So, are we finished'
brent_ well we can bring it up in email and get everyone's oppinion
brent_ that is all the agenda items, unless anyone else has something they want to discuss
-->| simboss (n=chatzill@anonymised.com) has joined GeoServer
jgarnett I see acuster has a new geotools 2.3.x ready, simboss are you picking this up for your WCS work?
  simboss actually
  simboss we discussed this yesterday
  simboss and yes
  jgarnett (aside: http://nature.berkeley.edu/~acuster/files/)
sigq Title: Index of /~acuster/files (at nature.berkeley.edu)
simboss that should be the next move
simboss I have a couple of things to port back
  simboss from getools trunk
  simboss to 2.3.x
  simboss but definitely
  simboss from next week
  simboss stable development
jgarnett okay, I will get jira to turn over and upload these to SF.
  simboss will run on 2.3.x
  simboss wait
  simboss 2.3.x
  simboss you mean
  simboss the geotols 2.3.x branch?
  simboss (kinda slow, loooooong day)
jgarnett acuster just made a release and asked me to update it, wondered if you were going to use it? Or is this simply a test our release process can now produce javadocs?
jgarnett (so maybe I am slow  )
simboss I do not think i will use it right now
simboss I still have to read the logs from this morning geoserver meeting
simboss but I understood that anywa
simboss all the 2d development I am doing
simboss will fall under geotools 2.3.x
  simboss so
simboss if it is not this one that I will use
simboss I will be next one
simboss It would nice to have 2.3.1
simboss with the geoserver-raster on top of it
simboss when the geoserver raster will become trunk
simboss got to read logs first
simboss I might be saying either obvious or completely wrong things
  simboss
jgarnett okay, so that probably wraps up our meeting
